Choc James aka CHOC, is the founder of Ohio’s Most Wanted Steppers, an organization founded to expand Chicago Style Steppin throughout Ohio.   

 

Born in Detroit, MI, CHOC’s passion for dance was undeniable at an early age. During his formative years in Detroit, where the Urban Ballroom style of dance originated, he excelled at dance, and wanted to offer something more. With 15 years of ballroom experience under his belt CHOC began learning Chicago Style Steppin in January of 2014.  He immersed himself in studying the dance, attending multiple classes a week, participating regularly in workshops, and practicing daily to elevate his dance all while cultivating his own personal style. His understanding of the dance was so in-depth that it fueled his desire to teach.

In March of 2015 CHOC became a Chicago Stepping Instructor.  With his passion and love for the dance he makes the learning experience fun while maintaining a professional environment.  His approach to teaching classes, workshops and private lessons, is designed to help dancers develop a deeper understanding of the dance. CHOC has acquired a unique skill set; he is able to help dancers become more confident on the dance floor.

CHOC has competed in the World's Largest Stepping Competition and has won various Grab Bag dance contests. In addition, he has trained students from coast to coast who have gone on to compete in, and win, Stepping competitions in various categories.
